Ribocon is a spin-off of the
Microbial Genomics Group associated with the Department of Molecular Ecology at the
Max Planck Institute (MPI) for Marine Microbiology in Bremen, Germany.
Our know-how is based on the techniques and the knowledge of molecular environmental microbiologists with a clear focus on bioinformatics, a field which has become more and more important in microbiology in recent years.
But we are also quite experienced with the related lab techniques of microbial community analysis and genomics, such as quantitative in situ detection methods (FISH) and microarray technology.
Basically, all these techniques are applicable for the analysis of any kind of DNA/RNA sequence information, molecular markers, or living cells, since the genetic code of life is universal. In conclusion, our motto is ...
"A method doesn't mind where a sequence is coming from"
The name Ribocon is assembled from the two terms ribosome and consulting.
The ribosome is a molecular component that can be found in all living cells and which is closely connected to the detection and classification of microorganisms in molecular genetics - one of our core competencies. The combination of these two terms symbolizes a part of the major activities the company is focussing on.
